Why get keys cut by a locksmith instead of a kiosk
Accuracy
Kiosk machines trace your key — years of wear included. We can cut to the lock's original code instead, then test it in your lock, so the copy works like the key did when it was new.
Worn or broken originals
If your key barely works, copying it copies the problem. We can cut a fresh key to code from the lock — or rekey it — and we'll tell you which makes sense.
Restricted keys
Most high-security keyways can't be copied at a hardware store — manufacturers only release those blanks to authorized dealers. Tell us the brand and we'll tell you your options.

How long does it take to cut a key?
A standard house key takes a few minutes. Car keys with programming and high-security keys take longer — usually still within the same visit.
Can I just send a photo of the key?
Yes. WhatsApp a photo to (604) 771-6677 or email it to info@ezlocksmith.ca. A clear photo usually tells us enough to quote, and whether we can cut it before anyone drives anywhere.
Can you copy a key if I've lost the original?
Usually, yes. We can decode most residential locks and cut a new key to the lock's original code — at your door. For car keys, call us with the make and model.
Can you cut car keys, or just house keys?
Both. We cut and program transponder keys, remote fobs and flip keys for most makes on site.
Can you cut high-security or restricted keys?
Restricted keys need proper authorization, such as the key's registration card. Some brands can only be cut by an authorized dealer — tell us the brand and we'll tell you whether we can cut it.
How much does key cutting cost?
Mobile key cutting starts from $125 — a technician comes to you, cuts the key and tests it in your lock. Car keys and high-security keys cost more because of the blank and any programming. We quote before we start, and there's no inspection fee.
