Imagine you are driving down the road in your semi truck and suddenly, you realize that you have locked yourself out (locked out of  semi truck). The options can seem a little limited and you might not know who to call for help, or what to do next. This can be a very frustrating and stressful experience, but fortunately, there are some things that you can do to get back into your truck. In this blog post, we will discuss what to do when you are locked out of your semi truck. Stay tuned for more information!

Stay Calm and look at other ways

Semi-truck drivers are always on the go, which means they can sometimes forget where they put their keys. If you can’t find your keys, the first step is to try and stay calm. Once you know for sure that your keys are nowhere to be found, look at other ways you might be able to enter the truck. Mainly, look at the sleeper cabin. Some sleeper cabins have doors that someone might have left unlocked. Another option is to try knocking out the window of the semi. This isn’t recommended if you don’t have a lot of experience with it, as it can be dangerous, but if you’re careful, it might be worth a try.

Go for improvisation: Look for a Coat Hanger

If you find yourself locked out of your semi truck, don’t despair. There are a couple of ways to get back in without having to call a locksmith. If your truck is equipped with remote keyless entry, you can use a coat hanger to retrieve the key fob from inside the cab. Simply insert the hanger through the door opening and hook it onto the end of the fob. Pull it towards the driver’s seat until the truck automatically unlocks. If your semi doesn’t have this feature, you can still use the coat hanger to lift an upright lock or press the unlock button on the inside of the door (on newer trucks). You can also use it to roll down an unlocked window and then unlock the door manually. Getting the coat hanger (or whatever else) inside the truck can be accomplished by inserting a wedge device into the door opening to create a small gap. Just be careful not to damage the door when doing so. With a little bit of ingenuity, you can easily get back into your semi – no coat hanger required.
